Job Description

Our client is a non-profit organization with over 100 locations in the mid-Atlantic region that has been providing treatment to individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction for over 50 years. This organization provides inpatient, outpatient, and residential services.  They are looking for compassionate drug and alcohol addiction counselors to join thier team in the Baltimore, MD area.

This individual must be capable of performing independent work in the therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation of persons within the program. This individual plans and conducts therapeutic activities and counsels therapeutically with clients on an individual and group basis. She/he must be capable of understanding the full continuum of care. In addition, this person must have a broad understanding of how a therapeutic program operates and how each client moves along in the treatment system.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: carrying out task in the therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with chemical dependency and/or mental health problems; providing, facilitating and supervising individual and group counseling; working with other social agencies and managed care organizations hospitals, clinics, courts, prisons, and gatekeepers in planning to meet the needs of clients and assist them in utilizing these resources; preparing treatment plans, histories, writing letters, making reports and keeping records; encouraging, reassuring and giving needed support; recommending educational and occupational training and/or possibilities for placement; providing assessment and evaluations based on appropriate criteria.

Job Requirements



Qualifications:
  • As required by MD state law, this individual must have one of the following certifications in the state of MD; OR be able to reciprocate an equivalent credential from another state: 
    • Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) 
    • Certified Supervised Counselor – Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD)
    • Certified Associate Counselor – Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD)
    • Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC)
    • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor
    • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
  • Master's Degree, with one (1) year experience
  • Sobriety: If in recovery, Two (2) years' sobriety
